Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Central South District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,874 females or 30.2%)
  • Retail Trade (759 females or 12.2%)
  • Education and Training (753 females or 12.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,386 females in total or 54.6% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Christies Beach employed 29.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.4% in Retail Trade; and 11.1% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the Central South District and Christies Beach were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (4.6% compared to 3.0%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (12.1% compared to 11.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in administrative and support services (4.4% compared to 6.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (6.9% compared to 8.2%)
