Location and boundaries

Woodcroft is bounded by Reynell Road and a line running continuous of Reynell Road in the north, Education Road, Armata Road, Pimpala Road and Pine Road in the east, the locality of Onkaparinga Hills and Kellys Road in the south and Panalatinga Road in the west.

Name origin

Woodcroft is named after an original farm in the area.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the 1860s, with land used mainly for farming and vineyards. Significant development did not occur until the 1980s, with Woodcroft being one of the newer suburbs in the City of Onkaparinga. Rapid growth took place during the 1980s and early 1990s, with the population more than doubling between 1991 and 1996 as large numbers of new dwellings were added to the area. Population growth continued between 1996 and 2001, although at a slower rate. The population grew slightly between 2001 and 2011, a result of fewer new dwellings being added to the area.

Woodcroft is a relatively recent residential area.

Major features of the area include Tangari Regional Park, Woodcroft Plaza, The Vines Golf Club of Reynella, Thaxted Park Golf Club, Geoff Merrill Wines, Banks Road Reserve, Dressage Avenue Reserve, Robert Wright Park, Woodcroft Skate Park and two schools.
