Clarendon - Kangarilla - Blewitt Springs - Kuitpo - Dorset Vale is bounded by Easton Road, Grants Gully Road, Clarendon Road, Potter Road, Lafferty Road, Frith Road and Scott Creek Conservation Park in the north, the Adelaide Hills Council area and the District Council of Mount Barker area in the east, Kuitpo Road, Wickham Hill Road, Toops Hill Road, McLaren Flat Road, Clayton Road, Douglas Gully Road, Beltunga Road and Kays Road in the south, and Amery Road, the Onkaparinga River and Piggott Range Road in the west.
Kangarilla is thought to be named from an Aboriginal word meaning “where the sheep mother sits down”. Blewitt Springs is named after the maiden name of the wife of William Greig Evans, a government surveyor.

Settlement of the area dates from the 1840s, with land used mainly for timber-cutting and farming. Some growth took place in the 1920s, aided by the placement of ex-servicemen in Blewitt Springs. Further settlement occurred from the post-war years. The population generally increased gradually from the early 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area.
Clarendon - Kangarilla - Blewitt Springs - Kuitpo - Dorset Vale is a predominantly rural area with several small townships. Rural land is used mainly for grazing and farming, with some viticulture.
Major features of the area include Onkaparinga River National Park, Scott Creek Conservation Park, Mount Bold Reservoir, Clarendon Weir, Kuitpo Forest, Douglas Scrub Girl Guides Campsite, Clarendon Recreation Ground, Blewitt Springs Reserve, Riverbend Park, Clarendon Hills Winery, Clarendon Winery, Possums Wines and two schools.
This area encompasses the localities of Blewitt Springs and Clarendon, and the City of Onkaparinga parts of the localities of Dorset Vale, Kangarilla and Kuitpo. The remaining part of the locality of Dorset Vale is located in the Adelaide Hills Council area, while the remaining part of the locality of Kangarilla is located in the District Council of Mount Barker area. The remaining parts of the locality of Kuitpo are located in the District Council of Mount Barker area and the Alexandrina Council area.
