Settlement history

The most significant development occurred from the post-war years, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s. The population of the District increased substantially during the 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area, particularly in the suburb of Onkaparinga Hills. The population was then relatively stable between 2001 and 2011, due to fewer new dwellings being added, and a decline in dwelling occupancy rates and the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
