Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in McLaren Vale in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (167 males or 17.8%)
  • Manufacturing (143 males or 15.3%)
  • Retail Trade (71 males or 7.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 381 males in total or 40.7% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, the City of Onkaparinga employed 19.1% in Construction; 10.4% in Manufacturing; and 9.4% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of McLaren Vale and the City of Onkaparinga were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (7.5% compared to 1.6%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in manufacturing (15.3% compared to 10.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (4.1% compared to 7.0%)
