Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the City of Onkaparinga compared to the Hills North District shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 5.6% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 3.9% for the Hills North District.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in the Central South District and the Hills North District were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (36.3% compared to 27.1%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (15.6% compared to 10.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (10.7% compared to 5.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (20.5% compared to 16.0%)

Emerging groups

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2006 and 2021 in the Central South District were in the age groups:
