Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the City of Onkaparinga compared to O'Sullivan Beach - Lonsdale shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 8.4% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 7.6% for O'Sullivan Beach - Lonsdale.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in the Central North District and O'Sullivan Beach - Lonsdale were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (13.3% compared to 8.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 10 to 19 (7.9% compared to 3.1%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (10.1% compared to 5.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (48.8% compared to 55.6%)
