Central Coast Council area

Overseas born - Year of arrivals

In 2011, 43,788 people who were living in the Central Coast Council area, were born overseas and 10.4% arrived in Australia within the last 5 years prior to 2011.

The Year of Arrival data records when the overseas born population arrived in Australia. The data shows the degree to which areas are 'ports' for new overseas arrivals and reveals the role of the Central Coast Council area in housing newer or older migrant groups.

Year of Arrival data should be looked at in conjunction with Age Structure - most people migrate to another country when they are relatively young.

Derived from the Census question:

'In what year did the person first arrive in Australia to live here for one year or more?'
