Dominant groups
Analysis of the language spoken at home by children aged 12 to 17 years in Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to the total population in Central Coast NSW shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).
Overall, 90.6% of children aged 12 to 17 years spoke English only, and 4.7% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 87.7% and 7.1% respectively for the total population in Central Coast NSW.
Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by children aged 12 to 17 years in Central Coast NSW was Mandarin, with 0.4% of the population, or 105 people speaking this language at home.
There were no major differences between Central Coast Council area and the total population in Central Coast NSW in 2021.
