Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by children aged 0 to 4 years in Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to the total population in Central Coast NSW shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 87.0% of children aged 0 to 4 years spoke English only, and 8.4% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 87.7% and 7.1% respectively for the total population in Central Coast NSW.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by children aged 0 to 4 years in Central Coast NSW was Non-verbal, so described, with 0.7% of the population, or 145 people speaking this language at home.

There were no major differences between Central Coast Council area and the total population in Central Coast NSW in 2021.

Emerging groups
