Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Rural West in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (232 males or 28.6%)
- Machinery Operators And Drivers (171 males or 21.1%)
- Managers (170 males or 21.0%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 573 males in total or 70.7% of the employed male resident population.
In comparison, Rockhampton employed 26.5% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 16.4% in Machinery Operators And Drivers; and 9.6% in Managers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Rural West and Rockhampton were:
- A larger percentage of males employed as Managers (21.0% compared to 9.6%)
- A larger percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (21.1% compared to 16.4%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Professionals (4.9% compared to 11.8%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (3.7% compared to 7.9%)

The number of employed males in Rural West decreased by 32 between 2016 and 2021.
There were no major differences in Rural West between 2016 and 2021.
