Need for assistance - Housing tenure

In Rockhampton 62.8% of people reporting a need for assistance were in households who were purchasing or fully owned their home, 21.8% were renting privately, and 11.2% were in social housing in 2011.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the housing tenure for people reporting a need for assistance in Rockhampton in 2011 compared to Brisbane SD shows that there was a larger proportion of people with a need for assistance in households who owned their dwelling; a smaller proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a larger proportion who were renters.

Overall, 42.1% of people reporting a need for assistance were in households who owned their dwelling; 20.7% were purchasing, and 33.9% were renting, compared with 40.5%, 24.0% and 32.6% respectively for Brisbane SD.
