In Rockhampton, 51% of recent arrivals were in households with an access to two or more motor vehicles in 2011.
The ability of the population to access services and employment is strongly influenced by access to transport. The number of motor vehicles per household in Rockhampton quantifies access to private transport for those arrived recently in Australia.
Recent arrivals may be less likely to have access to cars in some areas, due to affordability or inability to drive. Access to public transport also influences whether households need access to motor vehicles.
