Dominant groups

Analysis of the country of birth of the population in Rockhampton in 2011 compared to Regional QLD shows that there was a smaller proportion of people born overseas, as well as a smaller proportion of people from a non-English speaking background.

Overall, 8.7% of the population was born overseas, and 4.8% were from a non-English speaking background, compared with 16.7% and 6.6% respectively for Regional QLD.

The largest non-English speaking country of birth in Rockhampton was Philippines, where 0.6% of the population, or 480 people, were born.

The major differences between the countries of birth of the population in Rockhampton and Regional QLD were:
