Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by people aged 25 to 34 years in Rockhampton Regional Council in 2021 compared to Regional QLD shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 82.4% of people aged 25 to 34 years spoke English only, and 9.3% of% spoke a non-English language, compared with 76.8% and 14.0% respectively for Regional QLD.

Other than English, the dominant language spoken at home by people aged 25 to 34 years in Rockhampton Regional Council was Mandarin, with 1.2% of the population, or 138 people speaking this language at home.
