Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of the population born in India in Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 6.5% of the population born in India was aged between 0 and 14, and 10.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 8.8% and 6.5% respectively for Greater Sydney.
The major differences between the age structure of the population born in India in Central Coast Council area and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people aged 25 to 29 (12.5% compared to 11.1%)
- A larger percentage of people aged 75 to 79 (2.5% compared to 1.2%)
- A smaller percentage of people aged 5 to 9 (2.4% compared to 4.2%)

The largest changes in age structure of the population born in India in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 35 to 39 (+233 persons)
- 40 to 44 (+176 persons)
- 25 to 29 (+118 persons)
- 30 to 34 (+97 persons)
