Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Coastal District in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (5,299 people or 29.4%)
  • Managers (2,976 people or 16.5%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (2,292 people or 12.7%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 10,567 people in total or 58.6% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Wyong Ward employed 19.3% in Professionals; 11.4% in Managers; and 13.2% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the Coastal District and Wyong Ward were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (29.4% compared to 19.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Managers (16.5% compared to 11.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Labourers (5.8% compared to 10.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (2.9% compared to 6.9%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Coastal District increased by 2,249 between 2011 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2011 and 2021 in the Coastal District were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+1,098 persons)
  • Managers (+770 persons)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+285 persons)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (+122 persons)
