When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating East Brisbane Water and Coastal's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in East Brisbane Water and Coastal in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (4,895 females or 31.2%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (3,348 females or 21.3%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (2,462 females or 15.7%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 10,705 females in total or 68.2% of the employed female resident population.
In comparison, the The Entrance District employed 24.3% in Professionals; 20.1% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 20.6% in Community and Personal Service Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of East Brisbane Water and Coastal and the The Entrance District were:
- A larger percentage of females employed as Professionals (31.2% compared to 24.3%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Managers (11.4% compared to 9.6%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (15.7% compared to 20.6%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Labourers (3.9% compared to 6.3%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed females in East Brisbane Water and Coastal increased by 1,164 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in East Brisbane Water and Coastal were for those employed as:
- Professionals (+728 females)
- Managers (+359 females)
- Sales Workers (-166 females)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+125 females)
