There were more managers in Mountains and Valleys in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Mountains and Valleys in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Managers (851 people or 20.9%)
  • Professionals (724 people or 17.8%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (612 people or 15.1%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 2,187 people in total or 53.8% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, the Narara Valley District employed 11.3% in Managers; 22.6% in Professionals; and 14.2% in Technicians and Trades Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Mountains and Valleys and the Narara Valley District were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Managers (20.9% compared to 11.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Professionals (17.8% compared to 22.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Sales Workers (6.4% compared to 9.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (11.1% compared to 13.5%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Mountains and Valleys increased by 156 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2016 and 2021 in Mountains and Valleys were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+69 persons)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+60 persons)
