There were more female professionals in Mountains and Valleys in 2021 than any other occupation.

Mountains and Valleys's occupation statistics quantify the occupations in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the economic base and employment opportunities available in the area, education levels, and the working and social aspirations of the population. When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating Mountains and Valleys's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Mountains and Valleys in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (434 females or 22.7%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (377 females or 19.7%)
  • Managers (314 females or 16.4%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,125 females in total or 58.9% of the employed female resident population.

In comparison, Point Clare - Tascott - Koolewong - Woy Woy Bay employed 31.4% in Professionals; 21.2% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 11.9% in Managers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Mountains and Valleys and Point Clare - Tascott - Koolewong - Woy Woy Bay were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed as Managers (16.4% compared to 11.9%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed as Labourers (8.1% compared to 4.3%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (5.8% compared to 3.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed as Professionals (22.7% compared to 31.4%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Mountains and Valleys increased by 111 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in Mountains and Valleys were for those employed as:

  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+60 females)
  • Professionals (+56 females)
