Dominant groups
Analysis of the year of arrival for the overseas born Spanish speaking population of Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a larger proportion of people who arrived before 2010, and a smaller proportion of recent overseas arrivals (those who arrived between 2016 and 2021).
Overall, 81.1% of the overseas born Spanish speaking population arrived before 2010, and 8.1% arrived during or after 2016, compared with 62.9% and 25.0% respectively for Greater Sydney.
The major differences between the year of arrival data of the Spanish speaking population of Central Coast Council area and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of arrivals between 1971 to 1980 (30.6% compared to 18.6%)
- A larger percentage of arrivals between 1961 to 1970 (9.2% compared to 4.1%)
- A larger percentage of arrivals between 2001 to 2010 (16.7% compared to 13.7%)
- A smaller percentage of arrivals between 2016 to Aug 2021 (8.1% compared to 25.0%)
