Dominant groups
Analysis of the year of arrival for the overseas born Italian speaking population of Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a larger proportion of people who arrived before 2010, and a smaller proportion of recent overseas arrivals (those who arrived between 2016 and 2021).
Overall, 85.3% of the overseas born Italian speaking population arrived before 2010, and 5.5% arrived during or after 2016, compared with 80.4% and 7.7% respectively for Greater Sydney.
The major differences between the year of arrival data of the Italian speaking population of Central Coast Council area and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of arrivals between Arrived in 1960 or earlier (32.3% compared to 28.3%)
- A larger percentage of arrivals between 1961 to 1970 (35.7% compared to 33.1%)
- A smaller percentage of arrivals between 2016 to Aug 2021 (5.5% compared to 7.7%)
- A smaller percentage of arrivals between 2011 to 2015 (6.7% compared to 8.7%)
