Dominant groups
Analysis of the year of arrival for the overseas born Arabic speaking population of Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who arrived before 2010, and a larger proportion of recent overseas arrivals (those who arrived between 2016 and 2021).
Overall, 63.2% of the overseas born Arabic speaking population arrived before 2010, and 21.3% arrived during or after 2016, compared with 67.2% and 17.2% respectively for Greater Sydney.
The major differences between the year of arrival data of the Arabic speaking population of Central Coast Council area and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of arrivals between 1961 to 1970 (13.7% compared to 6.8%)
- A larger percentage of arrivals between 2016 to Aug 2021 (21.3% compared to 17.2%)
- A larger percentage of arrivals between Arrived in 1960 or earlier (2.5% compared to 1.0%)
- A smaller percentage of arrivals between 2001 to 2010 (9.2% compared to 19.0%)
