Central Coast NSW's occupation statistics quantify the occupations in which people speaking a language other than English at home (who are residents) work. The work destination may be in the local area or elsewhere.
The type of work done by migrant communities is influenced by their age structure, qualifications and migration stream. Many of Australia's recent migrants are skilled arrivals who fill identified skill gaps in particular occupation groups. Some older non-English speaking communities may be retired, or otherwise not in the workforce. Only those who are employed are included in this topic.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the Chinese languages speaking resident population in Central Coast Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (373 people or 30.4%)
- Managers (185 people or 15.1%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (159 people or 13.0%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 717 people in total or 58.5% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 37.3% in Professionals; 13.5% in Managers; and 8.0% in Technicians and Trades Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the Chinese languages speaking population of Central Coast Council area and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (13.0% compared to 8.0%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Labourers (10.9% compared to 6.2%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Professionals (30.4% compared to 37.3%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (8.2% compared to 13.6%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed Chinese languages speakers in Central Coast Council area increased by 155 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest change in the occupations of Chinese languages speaking residents between 2016 and 2021 in Central Coast Council area was for those employed as:
- Professionals (+118 persons)
