Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of Chinese languages speakers in Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a lower proportion of Chinese languages speakers in couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 47.8% of Chinese languages speakers were in couple families with child(ren), and 9.5% were one-parent families, compared with 54.5% and 11.1% respectively for Greater Sydney.
There were a higher proportion of Chinese languages speakers in lone person households and a higher proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of Chinese languages speakers in lone person households was 10.2% compared to 7.6% in Greater Sydney while the proportion in couples without children was 24.9% compared to 20.0% in Greater Sydney.

The number of Chinese languages speakers in households in Central Coast NSW increased by 553 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the family/household types of Chinese languages speakers in Central Coast NSW between 2016 and 2021 were:
- Couples without children (+206 persons)
- Lone person (+124 persons)
- Couples with children (+120 persons)
- One parent families (+65 persons)
