Mountains and Valleys's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.
When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Mountains and Valleys in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Construction (405 males or 18.9%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (249 males or 11.6%)
- Manufacturing (163 males or 7.6%)
In combination, these three industries employed 817 males in total or 38.1% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, Central Coast Council area employed 19.9% in Construction; 1.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 8.4% in Manufacturing.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Mountains and Valleys and Central Coast Council area were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (11.6% compared to 1.0%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in retail trade (5.8% compared to 8.5%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (4.8% compared to 7.5%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (3.7% compared to 6.2%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed males in Mountains and Valleys increased by 51 between 2016 and 2021.
There were no major differences in Mountains and Valleys between 2016 and 2021.
