Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Valleys District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (231 males or 20.2%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (100 males or 8.7%)
  • Manufacturing (88 males or 7.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 419 males in total or 36.6% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Central Coast Council area employed 19.9% in Construction; 1.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 8.4% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the Valleys District and Central Coast Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (8.7% compared to 1.0%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in other services (6.2% compared to 4.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in retail trade (5.2% compared to 8.5%)
