Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Northern Lakes District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (878 males or 25.9%)
  • Manufacturing (327 males or 9.6%)
  • Retail Trade (295 males or 8.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,500 males in total or 44.2% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Central Coast Council area employed 19.9% in Construction; 8.4% in Manufacturing; and 8.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the Northern Lakes District and Central Coast Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (25.9% compared to 19.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (2.8% compared to 6.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (4.9% compared to 7.5%)
