Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wyong Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (12,469 people or 17.5%)
  • Construction (8,926 people or 12.5%)
  • Retail Trade (7,875 people or 11.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 29,270 people in total or 41.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Central Coast Council area employed 17.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.5% in Construction; and 10.2% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Wyong Shire and Central Coast Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (12.5% compared to 11.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (4.2% compared to 6.0%)
