Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Valleys District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (216 females or 20.8%)
  • Education and Training (152 females or 14.6%)
  • Retail Trade (93 females or 9.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 461 females in total or 44.4% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Central Coast Council area employed 28.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.1% in Education and Training; and 11.9% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the Valleys District and Central Coast Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (6.0% compared to 0.6%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (14.6% compared to 12.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (20.8% compared to 28.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in retail trade (9.0% compared to 11.9%)

The number of employed females in Valleys District increased by 179 between 2011 and 2021.

The largest change in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2011 and 2021 in the Valleys District was for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+87 females)
