Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Southern Lakes District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,701 females or 28.0%)
  • Education and Training (760 females or 12.5%)
  • Retail Trade (756 females or 12.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,217 females in total or 53.0% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Watanobbi employed 30.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.5% in Education and Training; and 11.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the Southern Lakes District and Watanobbi were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (12.5% compared to 8.5%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in retail trade (12.5% compared to 11.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (28.0% compared to 30.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in manufacturing (3.8% compared to 5.4%)
