Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in West Brisbane Water and Peninsula in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (3,648 people or 16.8%)
- Construction (2,306 people or 10.6%)
- Retail Trade (2,116 people or 9.7%)
In combination, these three industries employed 8,070 people in total or 37.1% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Tuggerawong - Tacoma - Rocky Point employed 14.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 14.1% in Construction; and 11.2% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of West Brisbane Water and Peninsula and Tuggerawong - Tacoma - Rocky Point were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (7.7% compared to 3.6%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (16.8% compared to 14.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (10.6% compared to 14.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (5.0% compared to 7.5%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed people in West Brisbane Water and Peninsula increased by 4,138 between 2006 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2006 and 2021 in West Brisbane Water and Peninsula were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+1,236 persons)
- Construction (+753 persons)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+657 persons)
- Education and Training (+577 persons)
