Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Central Coast Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (15,181 males or 19.9%)
  • Retail Trade (6,501 males or 8.5%)
  • Manufacturing (6,408 males or 8.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 28,090 males in total or 36.9% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Gosford - West Gosford employed 9.3% in Construction; 11.7% in Retail Trade; and 9.0% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Central Coast Council area and Gosford - West Gosford were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (19.9% compared to 9.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (7.5% compared to 11.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in retail trade (8.5% compared to 11.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.2% compared to 8.6%)
