Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Springfield in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (408 people or 18.7%)
  • Construction (246 people or 11.3%)
  • Retail Trade (221 people or 10.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 875 people in total or 40.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Ettalong Beach - Booker Bay employed 16.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.8% in Construction; and 8.3% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Springfield and Ettalong Beach - Booker Bay were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (18.7% compared to 16.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in education and training (9.8% compared to 7.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (10.1% compared to 8.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (3.1% compared to 4.7%)

The number of employed people in Springfield increased by 263 between 2011 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2011 and 2021 in Springfield were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+123 persons)

  • Education and Training (+54 persons)
