Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of East Brisbane Water and Coastal in 2021 compared to the Peninsula District shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 18.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 22.9% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 16.2% and 26.9% respectively for the Peninsula District.
The major differences between the age structure of East Brisbane Water and Coastal and the Peninsula District were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 10 to 14 (7.0% compared to 5.2%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 15 to 19 (6.3% compared to 4.7%)

From 2011 to 2021, East Brisbane Water and Coastal's population increased by 7,764 people (12.9%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.22% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2011 and 2021 were in the age groups:

- 65 to 69 (+1,402 persons)
- 75 to 79 (+1,118 persons)
- 60 to 64 (+927 persons)
