Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Erina in 2021 compared to the East Brisbane Water District shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 12.4% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 46.2% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.3% and 27.2% respectively for the East Brisbane Water District.

The major differences between the age structure of Erina and the East Brisbane Water District were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (14.0% compared to 3.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (9.3% compared to 3.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (9.3% compared to 5.6%)
