Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Erina in 2021 compared to the East Brisbane Water District shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 12.4% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 46.2% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.3% and 27.2% respectively for the East Brisbane Water District.
The major differences between the age structure of Erina and the East Brisbane Water District were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (14.0% compared to 3.9%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (9.3% compared to 3.8%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (9.3% compared to 5.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 50 to 54 (4.0% compared to 6.4%)
Emerging groups
From 2006 to 2021, Erina's population increased by 794 people (18.3%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.13% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 85 and over (+324 persons)
- 70 to 74 (+120 persons)
- 75 to 79 (+116 persons)
- 80 to 84 (+99 persons)
