Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of the Wyong District in 2021 compared to Wadalba shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 18.6% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 17.6% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 26.4% and 10.1% respectively for Wadalba.
The major differences between the age structure of the Wyong District and Wadalba were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (6.1% compared to 3.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 0 to 4 (6.0% compared to 9.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 35 to 39 (5.8% compared to 8.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (6.1% compared to 8.5%)
Emerging groups
From 2011 to 2021, Wyong District's population increased by 1,097 people (7.2%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.69% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2011 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 70 to 74 (+263 persons)
- 55 to 59 (+217 persons)
- 25 to 29 (+196 persons)
- 65 to 69 (+157 persons)
