Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 35 to 44 years in Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney, shows that there was a similar proportion of people aged 35 to 44 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 63.3% of people aged 35 to 44 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 14.3% were in one-parent families, compared with 62.9% and 8.7% respectively for Greater Sydney.
There was a lower proportion of people aged 35 to 44 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 35 to 44 years in lone person households was 6.2% compared to 7.5% in Greater Sydney while the proportion of couples without children was 9.4% compared to 13.1% in Greater Sydney.
Emerging groups
The number of people aged 35 to 44 years in households in Central Coast Council area increased by 2,420 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in family/household types for people aged 35 to 44 years in Central Coast Council area between 2016 and 2021 were:
- Couples with children (+1,635 persons)
- Couples without children (+448 persons)
- One parent families (+315 persons)
- Visitor only / Other non classifiable households (+199 persons)
