Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 25 to 34 years in Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney, shows that there was a higher proportion of people aged 25 to 34 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 43.3% of people aged 25 to 34 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 15.1% were in one-parent families, compared with 36.9% and 8.6% respectively for Greater Sydney.
There was a lower proportion of people aged 25 to 34 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 25 to 34 years in lone person households was 6.4% compared to 8.0% in Greater Sydney while the proportion of couples without children was 24.3% compared to 29.7% in Greater Sydney.
Emerging groups
The number of people aged 25 to 34 years in households in Central Coast Council area increased by 3,174 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in family/household types for people aged 25 to 34 years in Central Coast Council area between 2016 and 2021 were:
- Couples without children (+1,724 persons)
- One parent families (+656 persons)
- Lone person (+331 persons)
- Visitor only / Other non classifiable households (+323 persons)
