Dominant groups
Analysis of the country of birth of people aged 55 to 64 years in Central Coast NSW in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a smaller proportion of people born overseas.
Overall, 21.6% of people aged 55 to 64 years were born overseas, compared with 50.1% for Greater Sydney.
The major differences between the countries of birth of people aged 55 to 64 years in Central Coast Council area and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people born in United Kingdom (8.5% compared to 5.7%)
- A smaller percentage of people born in China (excludes SARs and Taiwan) (0.9% compared to 6.9%)
- A smaller percentage of people born in Vietnam (0.1% compared to 3.4%)
- A smaller percentage of people born in Lebanon (0.2% compared to 2.5%)
Emerging groups
Between 2016 and 2021, the number of people aged 55 to 64 years born overseas increased by 1,311 or 15.6%.
The largest changes in birthplace countries of people aged 55 to 64 years in Central Coast Council area between 2016 and 2021 were for those born in:
- United Kingdom (+489 persons)
- China (excludes SARs and Taiwan) (+142 persons)
- Philippines (+99 persons)
- South Africa (+89 persons)
