Dominant groups
The size of the City of Yarra's female labour force in 2021 was 29,725 persons, of which 9,243 were employed part-time and 17,588 were full time workers.
Analysis of the employment status of female (as a percentage of the labour force) in the City of Yarra in 2021 compared to City of Yarra - Total population shows that there was a similar proportion in employment, as well as a similar proportion unemployed. Overall, 96.5% of the female labour force was employed, and 1.6% unemployed, compared with 96.2% and 2.1% respectively for City of Yarra - Total population.
Analysis of the female labour force participation rate of the population in the City of Yarra in 2021 shows that there was a lower proportion in the labour force (71.9%) compared with City of Yarra - Total population (73.8%).
Emerging groups
Between 2016 and 2021, the number of females employed in the City of Yarra showed an increase of 3,237 females and the number unemployed showed a decrease of 134 females. In the same period, the number of females in the labour force showed an increase of 2,933 females, or 10.9%.
