Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Yarra in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (26,225 people or 45.9%)
  • Managers (10,299 people or 18.0%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (5,752 people or 10.1%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 42,276 people in total or 73.9% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 26.8% in Professionals; 13.8% in Managers; and 12.9% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Yarra and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (45.9% compared to 26.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (6.4% compared to 12.1%)
