Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Fitzroy in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (587 females or 19.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (564 females or 18.3%)
  • Education and Training (343 females or 11.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,494 females in total or 48.4% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, the City of Yarra employed 17.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 18.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 11.5% in Education and Training.

The major difference between the jobs held by the female population of Fitzroy and the City of Yarra was:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (19.0% compared to 17.3%)
