Five year age groups

In 2021, the largest age group in Mountains was 50 to 54 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2001 was 65 to 69 year olds, increasing by 157 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Mountains in 2021 compared to West Brisbane Water and Peninsula shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 13.9% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 20.7% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 16.9% and 24.3% respectively for West Brisbane Water and Peninsula.

The major differences between the age structure of Mountains and West Brisbane Water and Peninsula were:
