There were more technicians and trades workers in Hackham in 2016 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Hackham in 2016 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (300 people or 19.1%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (247 people or 15.7%)
- Labourers (224 people or 14.2%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 771 people in total or 49.0% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Morphett Vale (East) employed 17.2% in Technicians and Trades Workers; 14.3% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 13.2% in Labourers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Hackham and Morphett Vale (East) were:
