Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by recent overseas arrivals in City of Maroondah in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (589 persons or 28.4%)
  • Labourers (352 persons or 17.0%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (249 persons or 12.0%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,190 people in total or 57.4% of the employed recent overseas arrivals.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 26.6% in Professionals; 15.3% in Labourers; and 12.9% in Community and Personal Service Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the recent overseas arriving population of the City of Maroondah and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of people employed as Professionals (28.4% compared to 26.6%)
  • A larger percentage of people employed as Labourers (17.0% compared to 15.3%)
