Dominant groups

Analysis of the religious affiliation of the population of the City of Maroondah in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a lower proportion of people who professed a religion and a higher proportion who stated they had no religion.

Overall, 49.2% of the population nominated a religion, and 45.6% said they had no religion, compared with 56.4% and 37.2% respectively for Greater Melbourne.

The largest single religion in the City of Maroondah was Western (Roman) Catholic, with 17.3% of the population or 19,903 people as adherents.
