Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Ringwood in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,464 people or 14.8%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (992 people or 10.0%)
  • Retail Trade (968 people or 9.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,424 people in total or 34.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Maroondah employed 14.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 9.8% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Ringwood and the City of Maroondah were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (6.1% compared to 4.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (10.0% compared to 8.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (8.7% compared to 10.8%)
