Bayswater North is bounded by Central Avenue and the proposed Healesville Freeway in the north, Colchester Road in the east, Dandenong Creek in the south, and Bungalook Creek, Tarralla Creek and Dunlop Avenue in the west.

Name origin

Bayswater North is named for the area to the north of Bayswater, which was named after a place in England.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the 1860s, with land used mainly for grazing and orcharding. Population was minimal until the early 1900s. Significant residential and industrial development occurred from the post-war years. Growth continued during the 1980s. The population was relatively stable between 1991 and 2006, and then increased slightly between 2006 and 2011, largely a result of new dwellings being added to the area.
