Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City of Maroondah in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (7,042 females or 24.2%)
  • Education and Training (4,372 females or 15.0%)
  • Retail Trade (3,212 females or 11.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 14,626 females in total or 50.3% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 21.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.0% in Education and Training; and 10.7% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the City of Maroondah and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (24.2% compared to 21.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (15.0% compared to 13.0%)
